  • I just noticed something... All of the humans in this episode are apparently Russian. There's only one place (as far as I know) where polar bears are referred to as Ice Bears; in the Norwegian archipelago Svalbard. Even though its primarily Norwegian (obviously), there's a somewhat significant population of Russians there (12%).

By the late 17th century there were Russian hunters who primarily hunted polar bears and foxes while they overwintered. This adds up to what we see in the episode: an arctic climate where Ice Bear comes across a Russian man living alone there as well as the group of hunters we see that are dead set on capturing Ice Bear.

Though the Russian activity in Svalbard completely ceased come 1809, this could also help narrow down when the episode took place if this is actually where the episode took place to begin with, which is very likely.
