We Bare Bears Wiki

Today, I will be talking about how We Bare Bears in Korea, and how they have such a different way of advertising. This will mainly be a culture shock, for I don't think I've seen this as much before, and don't take everything seriously. Please and Thank You.

To begin, we should look at how they use the bears to promote healthy eating and the "211 Meal Plan", although eating vegetables is not bad obviously, the way they promote this is almost subliminal messaging to the kids through cute and cuddly characters, and in this case, the bears. You may disagree with me, but I find this to be an incredible outreach to children to promote healthy eating.

What I want to know is why we don't see this kind of stuff in the US, do we just not have enough support and viewers among children in the US to fund this kind of thing? Is the US not used to having cartoon advertising as much as Asian countries? (i.e. Japan, South Korea, China, etc)

One the same subject of including the Bears in public advertising and food, you might have recognized the common images of the Bears/Cartoon Network being partnered with Baskin Robbins. Once again, why doesn't the US take this approach to sell more? It directly benefits both companies by increasing profits and helps spread the word of the show, then the more people who know of this only again benefits them. Do we raise our children to different standards in the US than other countries? (Yes, yes we do) But why can't we accept the same values for both countries? Are we in the US too critical and judge too easily when it comes to how we treat the things that children watch? Could we broaden our horizons and look at how Korea teaches their kids when it comes to acceptance between countries and what we define as "cute"?

In terms of the actual cake that you can buy in Korea, it comes in a huge box with a various assortment of themes and characters. As I am writing this, I fail to recall any time in my life that I can look back and recall a two-part cake that had multiple layers, themes and marshmallow dip specific to every bear to it. Oh yeah, and this cake comes with a We Bare Bears themed speaker. An actual Bluetooth speaker. Despite if you're just buying the present for the cake

or the speaker, it is an incredible way of company promotion and is somewhat of an inspiration for me to learn Korean.

In a Korean drama called Goblin, In episode 7, Shamshin comes home and is surprised to the boys holding a We Bare Bears cake.

If this doesn't show how much Korea loves cute characters, then I don't know what to say.

fiFinally, I would like to finish this blog post with how much Korea has evolved over the past decades, after the Korean War, Korea was considered a 3rd World Country, they were dirt poor, however with the aid of the US and the enforcement of education, Korea has risen to the top, becoming one of the few countries with the highest GDP in the trillions. How does this relate to WBB? Well, Hanhongmin Language School in South Korea did a video analysis lesson on 'My Clique' (S1E12).Another youtube channel by the name of "좋은습관" which translate into "Good Habits" does another English pronunciation lesson on a We Bare Bears episode. This time, S1E1 when the bears are in the cafe brainstorming about who stole their bag.

To conclude, I feel like Korea is a whole step ahead of the US when it comes to how we approach teaching and advertising cartoon characters in everyday culture, should we adopt their way of marketing? Should we not?

If you managed to read all of this, I thank you for your time!
